Lord of the Rings Review:

I started reading the lord of the Rings a few years ago but I just recently finished. The book is about a hobbit that inherits a ring, the ring in fact. Gandalf (a friend of his family) wanted him to destroy the ring but it can only be destroyed in the fires of a distant land. Many characters want this ring which causes most of the problem in the books. What I like about these books are the many characters and the great world building. An aspect that I was less fond of was the hard language which often gets in the way of the great story. So in conclusion I really liked this book but the hard language tends to get in the way of that.

I have recently read the german book ''fette ferien.'' An exact translation of this title is ''fat holidays'' but its meant more as ''awesome holidays.'' We were forced by our german teacher to read this book. The book is about a character called Tobias Frohwein. His dad forces him to go a summer school and he has a lot of weird adventures there.

It was quite an interesting book to read. There is a guy called Matthias and he is so obsessed by his Therapist that it seems like he worships him as a god. There are also some characters that bully Matthias and Tobias all the time, Like Kevin. There are plenty of good things about this book.

There is also a bad thing about the book,
its German.

To conclude, It is a fun book but its a bit hard to read because it is written in German. However, it is written in such a way that it is still manageable for the average Dutch person.

I have recently read 'wanneer de mieren schreeuwen'. The translate of it is 'when te ants shroud'. It's about Gabriel a guy and his job is taxidriver. Most of the story is about him and his time in Rotterdam with his family. One of the main characters is Socrates. And Gabriel tolks about Socrates his life en how famous and how cool he is.One of the things that you have to know about the main characters is that they are black. The writer is Alex Boogers.

One of the good things of the book is how it is written. It begins with Gabriel and he is happy with his life and with his familiy for example Socrates. Then the story begins then about Socrates life.

One of the bad things of the book that on the and ther is a big plottwist in the story because Socrates died and that is verry said.

At the and i recemend the book, because is it a good niveau and it is nice written.

I have recently read "Harry Potter en de steen der wijzen"

The book is about a boy named Harry Potter which grows up with his horrible uncle aunt and cousin and later detects his magical talents. The subjects are magic and science-fiction. The book has a really good plotline and the story is divided over 7 books. This book is the first one. I really like the good story. The main characters are Harry Potter, Hermelien and Ron. I really like this book because it is well written it has so much good things. Although it sometimes is a bit long every book has at least 300 pages.

My conclusion is that it is a good book and everybody should try it before they give their opinion. The book has a lot of stuff in it, I think everybody can find something fun in it.

Hello miss Penhoat-Boone,
I go tell you something about the last book that I have read. That book is "komt een man bij de doktor". The subject of the book is incurable diseases. The main characters are Stijn and Carmen. The plot line is about a woman who gets a form of breast cancer. Her husband likes to go to bed with other women, but continues to help her in the difficult situation. At the end of the book she dies and everyone thinks that is a shame. The good things are that it is a well-built book and it reads easily. The bad things are the rude language

Casino Royale,
In this book, James Bond is the main person, and La Chiffre as well. The have got a conflict because La Chiffre had stole some money at the Casino. James Bond got settled on him and must try to get the story why La Chiffre did that. It is a action and thriller story. The book has won a couple of prices, and that is why you need to read it! But there is one disadvantage, it is a very long storie, so I advise against this for the lesser readers. Altough it is such a nice book. My personal opinion, is that you must read this book, beacause you will such have a nice time!

There is a murderer. He kills many people and lets everyone believe they committed suicide. In the beginning there’s a girl who really committed suicide. Her brother is in shock and wants to take vengeance, so he read her diary and he get to know who bullied her. He takes vengeance at them and let everyone believe they committed suicide, but in reality they are murdered.
The good things about this book are the story. It’s a very good and exciting story. In the end I really didn’t knew who the killer was, so that was a good thing.
The bad things about this book, I don’t know. I read it many times and every time I kept reading. Mabye some capitals were a bit weird.
I liked it very much, it was a good story and very exciting.

Book review: ‘’Carry’s war’’ by Nina Bawden
I’ve read the book Carry’s war by Nina Bawden. This book is about Carry. She lives in londen during the second world war. All children from londen being evacuated from the city, and so are Carry and her little brother Nick. They end up at Miss and Mister Evans. They don’t like it very much there because Mister Evans is not so sweet. When they have to pick up a goose they find ‘’Druid’s bottom’’ and they become friends with the people who live there. One they the owner of ‘’Druid’s bottom’’ dies but in his will is written that the other people can stay in the house. After the war, Carry and her little brother go back to londen but while they are sitting in the train the see ‘’Druid’s bottom’’ is on fire. Carry thinks it’s all her debt. After a lot years Carry and her brother return to Druid’s bottom to see how they are doing after the fire. The story ends good because all the people from Druid’s bottom live happy.
The good things from the book are that it is a very easy book to read. The story is realistic and exciting. It is also a good story if you don’t love books about history and wars. The bad things about the book are that it’s written very slow and long-winded.
My personal conclusions
It is a good book for children. I think I was to old for this book because it was to simple to read and I felt to old for this. Apart from that, I liked the book and it was a funny story.

Het verotte leven van Floortje Bloem.
It's about a girl without a home and she is addicted to drugs and she is a prostitute. You read about her life and her bad situations. She lives in a orphanage, but moves a lot because she has a really bad behavior. She tries to live a better life, but the drugs control her life. She has a sister, she is also addicted to drugs and together they work to earn money for drugs.

The best thing is that you learn about this book. You learn that drugs are bad for you and it controlls your life. You can see the consequenses about drugs.

The writing is very difficult. Each chapter is written from a different perspective. That can cause confusion.

To sum up, this is a very good book. You learn a lot about it and it's a very good story.

De aanslag

For school I had to read a book. I asked for advice of my Dutch teacher and she said that “De Aanslag” from the writer Harry Murlish was a book I might like.
The events take place in the second world war. An NSB’er is being killed in front of the house of Anton Steenwijk. This murder wil keep haunting him for the rest of his life. He has to deal with all the problems that occur after the murder he had nothing to do with.
I really like the book and I can suggest to anyone who likes WW2 stories and need to read a book for school. The grate I give this book is a 7.8.

Doors open-
It's about 3 guys who want to commit a crime because they want a little bit of tension in their lives and they decide to steal so many pieces of art without anyone knowing the art pieces were ever stolen. Mike mackenzie is a self-made man with too much time on his hands and a bit of the devil in his soul. It was a very compelling book and I find it easy to read. The bad thing about it is that it is a very long-winded story and some parts are very predictable.
there is alot to say about this book but I think it's overal a really good book

i have read the book wanneer de mieren schreeuwen and it is written by Alex bogers. the story begins with these sentences on 1 february seven people lost their lives in a space shuttle, during a mission to teach the humanity something about the secrets of the universe. on the same day a boy plays with his friends in the snow on the parking deck at the metrostation. he too wil not survive that day. in this book a thirteen year old football talent socrates gets a voice through his cousin gabriel. the story of a boy who plays endlessly on the streets, gets interested in girls and dreams of becoming a professional footballer just like the other boys, until that one day

Ilja van der Stelt
Vermist by Sophie McKenzie.
This story is about a girl: Lauren. She is kidnapped when she were young. The kidnapper took her from America to England. She has been raised in England. But when she were older she thought more about her real parents. When she was home alone she search for information about her real parents. She had booked a trip to America to find her parents.
The best thing about this book is definitely the tension build-up. Because you know that something is going to happen but you don’t know what. This makes it extremely interesting to read.
However, you know very soon who is the person behind everything.
To sum up, this is a great book what you must read.

Book review ‘Lieve Mama’
Lieve Mama, is a book that I've recently read. The book is written by Esther Verhoef. When I read the first chapter, I knew that this book was very exciting and profound. First I thought that the story would be complicated, but it was such a fascinating story. In just one week I finished the whole book. The story is about a woman who lives with her husband and three children in a beautiful house. On one night suddenly there was a burglar in their house. The husband Werner of the woman Helen was home when the burglar was theirs. Helen came home early and saw the burglar in her house. She was worried that the burglar would do something to her husband. The burglar found out that Helen was home and he tried to kill her. But instead of killing Helen, Helen killed the burglar. That was the first chapter. In the future of the book Helen and Werner try to move on with their lives after the tragically event.
The thing that I personally really liked was that there was a lot of switching between characters.
There weren’t any things that I did not like about this book.
My conclusion: In my opinion this book is really a book that everyone should read because it is very nice to read and you can really put oneself in somebody's shoes

I’ve read the book ´Ibiza´ written by Kiki van Dijk.
The book is about Maggie. Maggie is an entrepreneur in Holland. She has a small restaurant in Amsterdam. She is nominated for the award ‘entrepreneur of the year’. Maggie’s husband Sam gave her a present, a ticket to Ibiza. Maggie has a few friends in Ibiza, but when she arrived some bad things happened. Some girls got murdered.
the book is pretty exciting and credible. But the end of the book is short and dashed off.
I think the book is very fascinating and I like the style of writing.

The book 'Winternacht' from Suzanne Vermeer is a psychological thriller. The story is about a woman, Karen, who lives in The Netherlands. When she turns 30 here parents tell her that she was adopted. First they didn't wanted to tell her but when they heared that her birth father was sick they did told her. She decides to go to Canada with her deaf son. The day she arrived a girl went missing. Eventhough she wants to focus on her father en brother she is helping to find out were the missing girl is.
I really loved that the story was so exiting. You really want to find out who the person is who kidnapped and murdered the girl and in the end the story makes a huge twist. You finally find out who the person was who took the girl and killed her and it is absolutely not what you expect.
However I really loved the storyline it was al little bit long-winded sometimes. Such as when she finds out she's adopted it takes here really long to go to Canada. So the main story is quite short because she spents a lot of time waiting.
I would really recommend this book. If you like books such as 'ijskoud' it is the perfect book for you.

Book Review Hunger Games
By: Carmen van Delden
2 december 2018

Basic Info:
The Hunger Games is written by Suzanne Collins and was published in 2008.
The main characters in The Hunger Games are Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark, Gale Hawthorn, Effie Trinket and Haymitch Avernathy.

The book is about Panem which is divided into 12 districts and the Capitol. Each Year 2 young tributes (male and female) aged 12 till 18 are selected thru a lottery in each district. The 24 tributes are then forced to kill each other in the Hunger Games.
When Katniss her younger sister got selected in the lottery, she volunteered to take her place in the Games. She and the male tribute, Peeta Mellark, fought very hard in the Games and made the impossible come true.

It’s like one of the best books i ever read and i don’t think that there is anything bad about it. This is just a book that I can read over and over and it still wouldn’t bore me.

Lisa is an adult woman who lives in a small village, she has one daughter: Anouk. She lives a happy life until a killer who escaped prison, came to his house and hostage them in their own house. A journalist sees it and want to call for help, but when she drives away something terrible happened to her…
The best thing about this book is definitely the way it is written. The book consists about to story’s. This way of writing makes it extremely interesting to read, and you want to read further all the time. The to story’s are perfectly written and extremely exiting.
However, I don’t like the ending because everything happens to quickly. The killer is already been killed before the police came. And help came out of nowhere. Some parts of the book are also a bit boring.
To sum up, this book is really exiting to read. I would recommend this book to everyone.

After Wieke Biesheuvel and her husband Rob came back in Holland after living in Zambia for a few years, Wieke decided to write a book about all the things she experienced in Zambia: 'Wieke in Zambia, onvergetelijke jaren'. While Rob was busy working as a doctor in Zambia, Wieke wondered what she could do for the inhabitants of Zambia. She figured out an amazing action and she made it work with help from friends. You can read all about she did in her book.

'Wieke in Zambia, onvergetelijke jaren' is publiced in November 2017. A book about corruption, poverty and sadness, but also about happiness, working together and the culture of Africa.

I think it's an amazing book and definitely worth to read. You got to know the culture of Africa and it makes you look at Africa with a different look. Absolutely recommended!

This reply is about the book oorlogsparadijs. It's about a man who's a doctor in training. He comes by Het gesticht and he learns there a lot. He met a girl and fallen in love with her. She died by an attack on an ambulance. He gets spiritual strugles and become after the sencond world war a teacher. He is teaching everyone about war and he gets a lot of people who what to listen to him because the cold war is comming. After all everything comes good.

It isn't hard to read because there's one story line and that’s very positive on this book.
And I don’t have criticism.
I want to advise it to everyone because this book is amazing. It’s the best book I ever read.

This is where it ends
The story is about a school shooting in Opportunity High School. The main characters are; Autumn, Claire, Sylvia and Thomas. And the school shooter, the brother of Autumn is Tyler. I really like the book, because I think the story is about something what nowadays happens too. And I think the story is well written because you want to read more and more. I don’t think that there are bad things about it, in my opinion it is a really good book. I think it is a good book, because I really enjoyed reading it. And I like the book, because I can’t find a thing bad about it.

Review about the book ‘Fantastic Beast And Where To Find Them’
The main character in this book is Newt Scamander who is a wizard.
There are 3 other important characters named, Jacob Kowalski who is a No-Maj or a Muggle, Porpentina(Tina) Goldstein who is a fired member of the ministry and last but not least Queenie Goldstein who is the sister of Tina and a mind reader.
It takes place way before the famous character named Harry Potter lived.
Newt is an Magic Beast wonderer and he knows almost every kind.
He is the writer of the schoolbook which is also the title of the movie.
The book and of course movie is about Newt who is in England and he is in trouble because he showed himself to a muggle (a non-wizard) which is considered highly illegal in the world of wizards.
He needs to go to the ministry of magic to get punished but luckily he gets help from the inside (Tina and Queenie).
Somewhere in the middle/end, the ministry finds Tina guilty too, because she helped him.
Finally Queenie and Jacob help them escape with some help of the fantastic beasts.
In the end Jacob still forgot everything, Queenie and Tina go on with their life and Newt travels even more to release the Beasts in their fatherland.
In the end scene they show a scene of Jacob’s bakery where Jacob suddenly recognized Queenie.
The writer of this book is J.K. Rowling. Rowling made a few books about other schoolbooks as well, such as The crimes of Grindelwald and Quidditch thru ages.

Good thing about it: I really like the idea of seeing the making of those schoolbooks and I like the history that you get to see of the whole wizard world.

Bad things about it: The book isn’t written as a normal reading book but as a screenplay. So you’re kind of reading a script instead of reading a book. Like, I don’t really mind, but for people who have difficulties with English or reading in general it’s going to be a tough one.

In my opinion it’s a great book. It is tough to read but it’s worth it.

Naam: Bastiaan Jongman
Boek: Kort amerikaans
Schrijver: Jan Wolkers

The book was published for the first time in 1962 by the extrodinary writer ''Jan Wolkers". The book gives you a insight in the life of "Eric Ploeggeest". The time of playing is the second world war. He is going home after a night at the cinema, but then he realizes that there is a razzia. He then escapes in to a random building. A few minutes later he realizes that it is an artschool. This is quite a coincidence, because he likes to paint in his spare time . Most of the middle section is about Eric getting to know new people within this artschool. It later turns out that some people in there are not completly trustable. Going to this school, might have cost him his life.

What i really like about this book, is the way the writer tells you the story, by having to wait so long until he tells you the clue, you get a really strong sense of excitement

The only downside for me was the first part of the book. It cost me a lot of time to really get a grip on the book.

The book "the perks of being a wallflower" is by Stephen Chbosky. It's about Charlie who starts his highschool years. He becomes friends with a couple of seniors who teach him the basic aspects in life, like how to smoke, how to have a good time at his first party and how to behave on first dates with girls he doesn't necessarily like.
I really liked the storyline and how the book was written. Because of the fact that it is written in the form of individual letters, it's very interesting to read.
All in all I really loved the book and the message it brings.
